Why was there a stigma around relying on freelancers in the past?

It was a time when it was considered quite a stigma to use freelancers based on the demands of the society as well as the old fashioned traditionally used working standards. We have failed to share the cooperation holy grail due to our ineffective communication tools and remote-work processes. The lack of confidence, similar to the case of the freelancers and remote workers, crippled both these groups when their shoulders were not being looked over their shoulders. It has been noted that right after 1 year of global pandemic, freelance platforms slow growth as many opportunities were hindered and projects were not delivered on time.
